Acmena

Acmena is a genus of shrub and small tree in the myrtle family Myrtaceae and related to guavas. The name is derived from the Greek word for "plentiful."  They are a native to Australia. The Australian species are commonly labelled as lilly pillies, along with the Australian Syzygiums.

Adenium

Adenium is a genus of flowering plants in the family Apocynaceae. ‘The Desert Rose’ (Adenium obesum) is a native of East Africa.  It is an evergreen succulent shrub in tropical climates and semi-deciduous to deciduous in colder climates. Adenium, also known as ‘Fat Boy’™ are exquisite plants with stunning flowers offering a kaleidoscope of colours – anything from the purest of white, through to hot pinks and  deep black reds.They are drought tolerant; you don’t need much water to keep these guys alive. Happy to be in the ground in a free draining mix and even happier in a pot as a feature.

Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea is a genus of flowering plants native to South America; from Brazil west to Peru and south to southern Argentina (Chubut Province). Philibert Commerson was the Botonist who discovered the flowering climber in Rio de Janeiro in 1768. The ship he was on at the time was the Bordeuse and the commander was Louis Antoine de Bougainville, whom the genus was named after. 

Bougainvillea are long flowering and can be adapted for a wide variety of landscaping uses. Some of these uses include topiary, hedging, hanging baskets, arbours and arches. Today’s Bougainvillea have a great range in growth habit and height. There are dwarf varieties that grow to only a metre, compact medium growers and some such as White Cascade that offer a beautiful cascading habit.

The range of colours offers limitless combinations and a palette to choose from that would satisfy any landscape design.

Cordyline

The cordyline is a hardy plant that provides colour 365 days of the year. Mainly red or green leaved types available, as well as pink/green bicoloured. This plant with its magnificent lush foliage is a must for the tropical garden inside or out. It makes an excellent container plant as it can be easily pruned to shape.

Strelitzia is a genus of five species of perenial plants native to South Africa. The common name for the genus is Bird of Paradise flower. In South Africa it is commonly known as a crane flower.
